TROPHY SECTION OF THE WATAUGA
The trophy section of the Watauga River is truly an amazing fishery. Located in eastern Tennessee, about an hour from Asheville, this 16-mile section below Wilbur Dam is one of only two specially regulated and designated trout waters in Tennessee.
With your fishing guide at the oars, you will be free to cast into incredible pools and river structure. The river winds through gorgeous farmland and under high bluffs, creating perfect habitat for mountain trout and beautiful vistas for fishermen. Because it flows mostly through private property, our float boats provide an ideal approach to pursue the large Brown Trout.
The Watauga is one of our most requested rivers because of its excellent spring olive and caddis fly hatches. Late May through early June fishing can be fantastic for giant Rainbow and Brown Trout; however, August to September is the most requested months. Book early to ensure your trip.
